SPECIAL APPEARANCE BY FORMER RED SOX AND EXPOS STAR BILL "SPACEMAN" LEE Wed. July 23, 2008
Bill Lee will sign free autographs from 6-6:35 pm and again from 7:05-8 pm by the Red Wings Hall of Fame display, first base side of the concourse. He will also pitch to two Healthy Blue members on the field before the game. Baseballs and photos will be available for purchase at the entrance to the autograph line; Bill will also sign items that fans bring to the game. A special merchandise table will be available with books written by Bill, yellow birch bats made by The Old Bat Company, and the DVD "Spaceman: A Baseball Odyssey." Please observe these rules: -------------------------------------- Bill Lee pitched in the major leagues from 1969 to 1982 with Boston and Montreal. He has pitched more games than any other left-hander in Boston Red Sox team history. Lee won 17 games for three straight seasons with Boston, 1973-75. This year, he will be inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame. He was a key figure in the incident that helped to ignite the modern day Red Sox-Yankees feud: a brawl at home plate on May 20, 1976 that also involved Lou Pinella, Thurman Munson and Carlton Fisk. On June 21, 2008, Bill pitched six innings and got the win in the annual Midnight Sun Game in Fairbanks, Alaska.
